Hungry Howie's Says Thank You to All for Going Pink in October

In October 2012, Hungry Howie's restaurants joined together in support of Love, Hope & Pizza raising over $275,600 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). "We appreciate the kindness and support shown by so many Hungry Howie's customers and employees in the incredible accomplishment of exceeding their fundraising goal for NBCF. These monies will aid our efforts in 2013 to expand the National Mammography Program to more hospitals, support the Beyond The Shock® program and invest in research," says Janelle Hail, NBCF CEO/Founder. 

Hungry Howie's has raised over $775,000 in the past four years for NBCF, which is ranked in the top three percent of charities in America and whose mission includes providing mammograms to women in need and offering educational resources such as Beyond The Shock® and the Early Detection Plan. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime and breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women. "It has been an honor to be a part of this campaign," says two-time breast cancer survivor and Hungry Howie's associate Andrea Adair, who helped in supporting the effort. 

The vinyl from Love, Hope & Pizza billboards, which was recycled to create tote bags and raise money for NBCF in 2012, is being recycled again this year in preparation for 2013. Throughout October, large pizzas were served in pink boxes, Love, Hope & Pizza wristbands and t-shirts were sold and donations were made through Hungry Howie's Facebook and Twitter pages. Hungry Howie's founder Jim Hearn shares, "We are humbled and inspired by the support of our customers and employees for people affected by breast cancer and by all of the stories and comments shared on our Facebook page. Thank you to everyone who made this a success. It has been a privilege to help make a difference in people's lives and offer hope."
