5 Things to Do This Weekend: Pool Party, Art Show, Dog Festival
From the kids to the dogs, Dunedin has something for everyone. Check out some of the fun things we picked out of the mix.
1. Exhibit: Local Students' History Projects on Display. The Dunedin Historical Museum is presenting a special exhibit showcasing the award-winning National History Day projects of Dunedin Highland Middle School. This year's National History Day theme is "Revolution, Reaction and Reform in History."

2. Monthly Shell Show and Exhibit at Honeymoon Island. This monthly event features an array of shells from Honeymoon Island, along with hands-on learning activities.
- When: 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 18
- Where: Honeymoon Island State Park (at the Rotary Centennial Nature Center)
- How much: $8 (State Park entry fee)
3. Back-to-School at Highlander Pool Party. The Dunedin Historical Museum, the City of Dunedin, Dunedin Patch and Super Target are teaming together to make a back-to-school party like no other. Featuring a DJ, inflatable bounce house, pool games, concessions, safety tips, movie, free school supplies, and more.
- When: Friday, Aug. 17, 6 p.m.
- Where: Highlander Pool
- How much: $2
4. The m*ART Indoor Art Show. Nevermind the heat: The Dunedin Fine Art Center presents this new indoor summer art show featuring 44 artists selling their work in the manner of an outdoor art fair. Come browse or buy in air-conditioned comfort, DFAC says.
- When: Friday and Saturday, Aug. 18-19
- Where: Dunedin Fine Art Center
- How much: Free to attend
5. Dog Days of Summer Festival. Bring your dog to the speed agility course or enter a "Fast and Furious" speed themed costume contest. Win prizes and socialize your pup.
- When: Saturday, Aug. 18, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Where: Highlander Park
- How much: Free to attend

DETAILS AND CORRECTION:
It's inside the Rotary Centennial Nature Center inside the park. park entrance fee is $8 per car load, up to 8 people. The nature center and shell show are free once you pay to enter the park. It is a beautiful setting, with gorgeous view,and awesome for a rainy day. There is a free movie about the animals that live inside shells too, as well as a free indoor scavenger hunt with prizea.
It's always held the 3rd Saturday of the month from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The website www.islandparks.org is an accurate source of information regarding programs and activities held at the nature center.

Thanks for the extra details, Tim! Hope you have a great turnout! The shell show is featured in our calendar as a repeated event every third Saturday. I warmly welcome you to customize it with additional details! To do that, you can create a new event on Patch and once it is in the system, I'm more than happy to cancel out the old one so that yours is the one featured every month instead!
