Breaking: Deputies: Dunedin Couple Found Dead in Hernando County »
Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

5 Things to Know Today: Monday, July 16

Last day to register to vote, how to choose a children's book, cheap gas, what our city commission doing today, and more.

1) Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Otherwise, we should have mostly sunny skies with a high near 90. Tonight's low is 77.

2) The lowest reported gas price in Dunedin is $3.19 (cash, regular) at the Super Shop, 1001 Broadway, on TampaGasPrices.com.

3) Don't forget today is the last day you can register to vote!

4) Olivia Wilson, head of youth services at Dunedin Public Library, shared a great tip for parents trying to decide what books their kids should read in her Local Voices blog this week. She also shares some fun events happening this week. (Check it out!)

5) City commissioners are discussing the latest budget proposal during a workshop today from 9 a.m. to noon at City Hall. They will discuss:

  • Stormwater and wastewater rates.
  • How much it plans to contribute to Dunedin Fine Art Center, the Dunedin Historical Museum and other non-profits.
  • City employee health benefits.

(Dunedin Patch will provide you with a series of "snapshots" of what it means to you and the city over the next several weeks.)
