Civil War Soldiers Take Over Main Street
Richard Bennett shared these photos of a live history demonstration on Main Street on Saturday.
You may have felt like you stepped into a time machine to the 1860s if you were downtown on Saturday.
The Dunedin Historical Museum and actors from 7th Florida, Company K, helped commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War with a living history demonstration on Main Street.
Actors wore authentic period costumes, demonstrated a Civil War campsite, held a drill exhibition and musket demonstration.
The event also highlighted Dunedin Historical Museum's main exhibit, "The Maple Leaf: An American Civil War Shipwreck," an interactive exhibit on loan from the Museum of Florida History in Tallahassee. It features artifacts recovered from a Union supply ship that sank near Jacksonville in 1864 and it is on display until January 10, 2013.
