Cub Pitchers Shut Down Jays To Tie Series

Ryan Tepera kept the Jays close for six plus innings but Jays lose 3-1.

The Dunedin Blue Jays backs are against the wall after losing game two in Daytona, Wednesday evening 3-1.

Starting pitcher Ryan Tepera was solid through six and two-thirds innings allowing the three runs on five hits and striking out five.

As he has done so many times throughout this season, the 6-1 Texan recovered from early trouble, giving the D-Jays a chance to win.

This night belonged to the Cubs starter Jeff Antigua, who limited the Jays to one run on four hits in seven complete innings.

The 21-year old left-hander made only his eighth start of the year but had the Jays off balance with his change of speeds.

The D-Jays had a chance to pull even in the eighth when they loaded the bases with one out but two of their hottest hitters, Brian Van Kirk and Jon Talley, were unable to cash in the tying runs.

On Deck: The D-Jays will send Asher Wojciechowski to the mound in the deciding game tonight. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Ball Park in Daytona.

Need to Know: Jackie Robinson Ball Park is the oldest and most unique stadium in the Florida State League. The visitors dugout is one third the size of the Cubs dugout with half the players sitting on a bench next to it.

To win a deciding game in this hostile environment is something the Jays players can be proud of for a long time.

The Bradenton Marauders evened the South Division series with a convincing 10-0 victory in St. Lucie. Game three of that series will also be played Thursday.
