Deputies: Dunedin Man Stabs Elderly Person Multiple Times

Pinellas County Sheriff's Office deputies report that when the knife blade broke from the handle, Michael Patrick Hennagir, 20, went into the kitchen for more knives.

A Dunedin man went back for more knives after the blade broke during a stabbing attack on an elderly person March 6, according to Pinellas County arrest records.

Michael Patrick Hennagir, 20, was reportedly in an argument with an elderly person he lived with inside a Dunedin home when he charged them with a knife around 8 p.m.

Arrest records indicate that Hennagir tried to stab the victim multiple times, but when the knife blade broke from the handle, he went into the kitchen for two more knives and attacked the victim again.

The victim was stabbed several times in the arm, neck and chest, but was able to push Hennagir into the garage and lock him out, according to arrest records.

Hennagir is charged with felony aggravated domestic battery on an elderly person. He is being held at Pinellas County Jail without bond.

Michael Hennagir is a coward. Stabbing an elderly man, a knife breaking and goes to get two more knives. He must be related to Jodi Arias. I will venture to say if he gets off of this charge, he will attack again, and end up in prison. I hope the elderly man is doing ok. I would love to know what attempted murder is. This seems to fit the charge of it. This is a very sad way for elderly to live life.

Bet he gets 120 days and probation or community control. Should be more charges. Bet drugs involved.

Is it too costly to prosecute him or something? Who calls the shots on these bogus charges?

This is utterly ridiculous, the charges need to be elevated to attempted murder for sure. ????

His bond is $100,000. Bet State Attorney will lower charges and bond. SO and City of Dunedin can only do so much time for State Attorney Mc Cabe answer to us in Dunedin why his department fails to prosecute.

Sorry State Attorney is Ken Burke, not Mc Cabe. Any same point.

No Bernie is the State Attorney Ken is the clerk of courts. Did any of you know it Alls stop to think that the story never mentioned the victim being transported to the hospital with serious injuries? Did you consider that the wounds may be superficial. Did you educate yourself and look up the definition for attempted murder under the Florida State Statutes? In fact were you there to question the bad guy and victim to find out what was said during this crime? Well the answer is an obvious NO! Based on your uneducated responses.

THANK GOODNESS

Thank you Holy Cow...LET the police do their jobs. Let people be charged and sentenced for the crime that they committed. Lets not over charge them or LIE to make the charges worst then what they are. As we all know this is how cases get dismissed. Judges are not stupid they will dismiss a case if there is not enough evidence to charge the person. In time if a person is living a life of crime they will hang themselves. Some people think because they worked for law enforcement pushing papers that makes them ex law enforcement officer. Thank goodness there is someone on here with logic.

My apologies. This story doesn't indicate the man was sent to hospital. Previous story does. Regardless the wounds could be superficial or minor in the grand scheme of things. Attempted Murder needs intent and without being there knowing all the facts no one can say it rose to this level. Let the cops charge for the crimes since they are the ones in the know.

Yes. Arrest records indicate that the elderly man received medical treatment, and that it was unknown if the young man accused in the stabbing was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of his arrest.

Thanks Jason and True Story, those that attempt to defend garbage like this are part of our city and counties problem. I wish someone would turn all articles from Patch, over to Judges and State Attorney. Time for them to do their job. SO has done theirs.

I see no good reason this kid should be defended. He needs serious psychological help, and should serve ample time for the crime he has committed.

WE as society have to come to terms with MENTAL ILLNESS is real. This young man has issues no doubt. Yes he needs to do time for the crime that he has committed but we can't stop there he need mental help. Sometimes it is so easy for us who sit in our "IVORY TOWERS" to say throw him in jail and throw away the key. Maybe because we have insurance to pay for mood stabilizing meds. Jail or prison is not the only and answer if we don't get him the help for his mental issues then all has failed. Yes you can say that it is not your problem but at the end of the day it is OUR problem as a society.Mental illness is real and that also needs to be treated.

Ivorytower I agree with you that he needs jail time and mental help. His problems began with his parents or or lack of. He is a grown man and made choices be it good or bad at some point he we that live in our "IVORY TOWERS", know this. To give him an out by saying he is mentally ill is just that an excuse. True Story, You are correct he does not need defending. He made his choice to injury with intent to kill. He needs to own up to his actions. No more excuses! That is how he end up this way. Time for him to stop blaming and except responsibility for his actions. "Ivorytower" if you think you can fix him let jail know your address so he can live with you and you can deal with him 24 hours a day.

Stacy-
No one said not to charge him because he is mentally ill he did the crime so he needs to due the time in addition to the time he also needs to have some type of mental help.Just because someones opinion might not agree with yours you always have an off the wall comment "he can live with ivory tower". You don't know his parents maybe they did everything they could to help him AND you always want to blame the parents. It is HIS choice to do what he does. DONT put his trash in his parents back yard. It is like saying that if a child is gay that it is his parents fault. It is each person choice on how they want to live their live. A parent can only do so much. You the type of person who is always moving but going no where.

Stacy
I think you have missed the point of what Mirror is saying. Mirror is not comparing someone that is gay to a violent mentally ill person what he or she is saying is that each person is responsible for their decisions. We can't blame a person parents for their decision. In one comment you say stop blaming and in another you say its the parents fault. No matter what it is a sad situation and I wish him the best in finding the help he needs to get his life on the right path.

Mirror --Don't even try to reason with Stacy she listen to only one opinion and that is the voices in her head. I'm going to tell you that everyone feels the same way regarding her opinions but are afraid to tell her instead her "friends?" listen to her and run back and talk about everything she says because they know that she is a loose cannon. reading your comments you seem to have compassion on the human race and the world needs more of that.
