Dunedin High Schools' Scottish Highlander Band was recently awarded a prestigious Mickey Mouse trophy for being one of two bands in the country to march in the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade.

Principal Reuben Hepburn presented the band director, Ian Black, with the Mickey Mouse trophy during an ceremony at Dunedin High School on Dec. 13.

Watch the Highlanders in the Disney Parks Christmas Day parade on ABC Dec. 25 at 10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.

Disney judges were impressed with the Scottish Highlanders even though the band of 70 to 80 students was smaller than many other marching bands.

Disney selected the Dunedin students, dressed in Scottish military kilts and use of traditional Scottish bagpipes, for a part of the parade inspired by Disney's latest animated release "Brave," the story of a Scottish princess who must find courage to undo a horrible curse.

Only one other band in the country was bestowed the same honor of marching in the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade.

The Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade airs at 9 a.m. for all other major U.S. time zones, according to the Disney parade website. Check your local listings for more information.
