Dustin McGowan pitched his second extended spring training game Tuesday (May 24) at the in Dunedin.
The former Toronto Blue Jays starter is trying to regain his form that saw him win 12 games in 2007.
Two different arm surgeries have prevented McGowan from pitching in the majors since July 2008.

Tuesday, McGowan threw 15 pitches, of which nine were strikes. All three young Pirates hitters struck out, including a called third strike. It was a 95 mph, two-seam fastball that froze the right-handed hitter and left the few spectators in attendance in awe.
McGowan would continue throwing a dozen or so pitches at three-quarter speed in the bull pen. After that he would long toss another 10 pitches before calling it a day.

Considering the Toronto Blue Jays have blown two eighth-inning leads in the past week, Dustin McGowan might be that middle to late relief they are looking for.
