Falcons Digest: Track Sends One to States

The boys and girls track & field teams competed at regionals Thursday (April 28) at Harmony High School near Orlando.
Sharrod Harriel was Dunedin's only athlete to get through to the state finals. His high jump of 6 feet, 4 inches got him the fourth spot and five team points.
For the boys, junior Zach Maciolek came close in the 3200-meter with a fifth-place time of 9 minutes and 57.94 seconds, less than five seconds off the fourth place time. Maciolek earned four points for his team.
James Payton Bock and Cameron Sellers came close in 1600-meter and 110-meter hurdles, respectively, but were shy of qualifying.
The boys team scored 13 points.
For the girls, junior Trishana Lopez wound up with a sixth-place finish in the 800-meter at 2 minutes and 24.75 seconds. She was short of qualifying but scored three points for the girls team.
Sophomore Hannah Welsh got the eighth spot in 300-meter hurdles with a 53.93-second time. She did not qualify, but scored a point for her team.
The girls finished with four points.
Harriel competes at the state finals on May 6 in Winter Park, Fla.
Varsity Baseball
The Dunedin Falcons ended their season with a 10-0 district semifinal loss to the East Lake Eagles on Wednesday (April 27) at Seminole High School. Senior Mike Clarkson pitched.
The Falcons graduate 13 seniors from the team.
