Five Things You Should Know Today

Meet the mayor, get a citrus tree, keep tabs on the Jays.

  1. The Toronto Blue Jays split their squad for a scrimmage exhibition game against Canada at 1 p.m. The other half of the squad plays the Atlanta Braves' split squad at 1:05 p.m. Both scrimmages are away games. The Jays lost to the Pirates yesterday, 4-1.
  2. Mayor Dave Eggers will be giving out FREE handshakes at the Green Market today from 10 a.m. to noon. Stop by the City of Dunedin Information booth and say hi.
  3. While you're at the Green Market, you may run into the folks from Organic Living, Inc. The group is taking orders for citrus trees with a variety of fruit grafted onto them (lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, tangerines and tangelos). Several of these citrus fruits can supposedly be picked from one tree. The trees come in a five-gallon container. Place and order online or call 727-433-1661.
  4. The Dunedin Doggie Rescue will be at the Pinehurst Pub tomorrow for it's big fundraising and rescue event, Musicians for the Paws/Brewers for the Cause.
  5. WEATHER: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Still a little windy today, according to the National Weather Service.
