Letter to the Editor: Batman Movie Massacre Warrants Swift Justice

A Dunedin resident sounds off on the justice system regarding James Holmes, the 24-year-old alleged gunman in the Batman Movie Massacre that claimed 12 and injured more than 50 people last Friday, July 20, in Aurora, Colo.

Dear Editor,

Sometimes there's just no defense. Imagine being the public defender that has the task of defending this killer. How can, in all conscience, they try to save or make some kind of plea deal? His act is beyond the scope of human comprehension.

There are situations when I feel “Western Type Justice” should take place. Take him out and hang him from the nearest tree. How can one forgive or defend certain acts, war crimes, heinous crimes against the elderly and children, crimes against humanity, the list goes on. Our justice system has many faults, 20 years or more on death row is a crime against the tax payers and those who are the victims.

Are theses killers trying for the Guinness book of world records? What must they be thinking?
