Man Accused of Hitting Girlfriend, Spitting on Deputy
Michael Patrick Hogan, 31, reportedly became aggressive with deputies during the course of a domestic disturbance investigation on Saturday. He was arrested on the felony charge of battery on a law enforcement officer.
A Dunedin man was slapped with a felony after he allegedly punched, kicked, and spat in a deputy's face early Saturday.
Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies were responding to a domestic disturbance on the 700 block of Lakeside Drive in Dunedin just after 4 a.m. on Nov. 24 when they encountered Michael Patrick Hogan, 31. Hogan had been drinking alcohol and slapped his girlfriend across the face, according to arrest records.
While deputies were investigating the incident, Hogan reportedly became aggressive, spat in a deputy's face and physically assaulted him.
Arrest records state that Hogan struck the deputy in the chest with his hands and fist and kicked him in the leg.
Hogan was arrested on charges of domestic battery, a misdemeanor, and battery on a law enforcement officer, a felony. He was released on $6,000 in surety bonds Nov. 25.
Hogan was arrested on the felony charge of resisting an officer with violence on Oct. 3, and also on misdemeanor charges of simple assault and retail theft on Sept. 1.

Why is someone who clearly has violence issues released to anything other than a psych ward or residential program? This is an example of our justice system not hitting on all cylinders! If his actions are not a cry for help then I just don't know. I'm all for due process but what does this guy have to do? Kill someone at Xmas or himself? Just asking?

Stacy knows the drill! Apparently until someone is killed, the State won't do shit and then it's questionable. Sad that our officials can't protect is people. OR WON'T!
I don't think his bruise on his cheek is big enough. I would have capped him! Maybe a little more paperwork, but he wouldn't do it again!

I don't understand how they let these people out of jail within 24 hours, clearly his is a violant individual, and is going to continue to hurt woman and others, but they let him out on a surety bond. Don't worry next call the SO's get may be a homicide/murder investigation. I am so over the way the law works anymore.

I don't understand why they didn't revoke bail for the first felony assault charge in October and refuse bail on this one.

As a woman who has been in a domestic violence situation in the state/county. It is who you know, for someone that was not able to walk and carried out on a stretcher , back board and neck brace. Bruises almost the length of my thigh, there was no prosecution from the state/county. To now live in the fear of him daily with him moving only one major block from me. Will I be the next missing like the maderia beach woman that has never been found? Aristotle said " fear is the pain arising from the anticipation of evil" now I I have to live in fear with the anticipation of evil the rest of my life! Florida it is time to take notice, domestic violence stalking and harassing is not going to stop until you put the wheels in motion!
