No More Red Light Cameras? Here's What Dunedin's Saying

As the Florida House of Representatives considers outlawing red light cameras around the state, here's what some Patch readers had to say on the subject.

Since we told you last week about a bill under consideration by the Florida House of Representatives that would strike down the use of red light cameras, Patch readers have had plenty to say on the topic.

Our story, Red Light Cameras: Should They Stay or Go?, received more than 120 comments as of Tuesday night. Here's what some Dunedin Patch readers had to say:

KLAUS: "IF THEY ONLY STOP 1 RED LIGHT RUNNER FROM KILLING, THEN THEY ARE WORTH HAVING."

Michael J. Kovac: "It's laughable to think Florida legislatures would repeal a law that generates revenue for them. I feel the red light cameras are here to stay!"

Do you agree? Should red light cameras be banned in Florida? Why or why not? Share your thoughts in the comments section below to continue the conversation.

I think these are causing more accidents. As a recipient of a $158.00 ticket, yellow light in the rain, turned red before I made it to the boundary, I now see people braking very fast and causing the people behind them to have to veer off to avoid collision.

Agreed^ .. We can't be naive and pretend we all leave a car length per 10mph(or more on hazardous conditions).. The truth is, no one drives perfect and people are paying more attention to the light itself than the traffic around it which is a new danger in and of itself.. I am guilty of this myself, if you haven't done this than you should pat yourself on the back and tell yourself another lie
