Achmed....there was a time when true Americans, with real patriotism, believed that every American, and especially the President, had the right to his own opinion and even when you disagreed with it, you would defend his right to express it with your life. I defend your right to think what you will of the President and to put in writing your alternative position, but you should be ashamed to revert to name calling, which is the last defense of those so dysfunctional in language that they can't express themselves.

Torrey, The unemployment report is up. In January of 2009 unemployment was 8.3%. In July 2012 the unemployment was 8.3%. In August 2012 the unemployment is 8.1%. That is the number that moves the needle. Yes jobs were added, but that doesn't matter if we are still above 8% unemployment. When you are talking about a healthy unemployment rate of 4%-6%, being 2.1% higher is huge. For reference Bush was never higher than 6.3%.
Torrey Craig
3:02 pm on Friday, September 7, 2012
Michael D - According to the BLS (http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS14000000) when President Bush left office in Jan, 2009 the unemployment rate was 7.8 %. The previous month Dec, 2008 the rate was 7.3% and in Nov it was 6.8%. In the last two month of President Bush's administration the unemployment increased one full percentage point.
Michael D.

Torrey, so what you are saying is that the numbers on the graph you create differ from the latest report they released. So either you are manipulating your numbers, or they manipulated theirs on their latest release? It is in this report sitting on my desk from the Department of Labor, which numbers should I believe. The ones that arrived sealed or the ones you set up in the chart to run?
Michael D.
3:46 pm on Friday, September 7, 2012
We also need to remember while looking at unemployment numbers, that it only includes people looking for work, not the people who have been looking for a while and stopped checking in with the government or have stopped looking because there are no jobs out there. remember that the 96,000 jobs increase is still most likely a bad number, that will be adjusted to somewhere between 86,000 and 99,000. Which is still 45,000 less than is needed to move the needle for the increase in workforce population in this country. In order to keep up with the workforce population growth we need to average 145,000 jobs a month.

He has a birth certicate, SS card, passport, etc. all the documentation to be a citizen and considered Natural Born. Do you have information that the CIA/FBI/Secret Service wasn't able to uncover when they did their background checks on him? And yes, those background checks are made on any candidate who has applied to be president of this nation.
Secondly, are you required any other documentation to prove your natural birth.
I disagree with a lot of things about President Obama and his plans. But the whole birther agrument is tired and played out. He is president at this point, and you can't take that away. So it is a non-agrument. Just something that labelers use to get the masses worked up.

The problem this country is having is that some citizens believe they are more equal than others and should be treated preferentially. As for the President being "natural born", this witch hunt is over or haven't you heard that any intelligent person and almost every respected Republican concedes this topic. Now you don't earn rights, remember you "are endowed with" them. See our founding fathers. Also the President of the United States IS your CIC. This is not your choice. Lynda
12:48 pm on Friday, September 7, 2012
Many people in the Democratic party object to combining religion and politics. Many people in the Democratic party are proud to be non-believers or at least people not associated with religions whose clergy preys on vulnerable children or churches who exclude people. Many people in the Democratic party are proud of their faith. Some of the most exciting convention speeches were made by clergy and some of the most enthusiastic supporters are people of faith. This is one reason voter suppression tactics such as no Sunday voting are being implemented. The Democratic Party is inclusive; unlike the GOP where there is a religious test for membership. Try another talking point from your list.

Better to believe in a "GOD" than a false belief in someone who does not really care about YOU. Go join a worship group and maybe you will pesonally experience the love of others who share a much richer belief.

It has gone on for 12 years, and to be honest it will not be fixed by 2016 either. There is too much to fix, and too many other countries are failing around us. The change from service to manufacturing economies has hurt our work force. Giving all this deals to Unions that are unwarranted also hurt because honestly some of the jobs we are trying to force to be here should be shipped over seas. We should be retooling and reeducating our workforce for the 21st Century not forcing 20th Century technology and jobs to be profitable.

Paul, first thank you for a logical response. Paul you are correct, the majority were Christians and of different secs of Christianity other than Roman Catholic and Church of England. By the way I did pass history with A's in high school and college. I'm quite aware of the history of the religious presecution that our founders faced. A common misconception is that the Constitution in its' orginal form referenced God, it didn't. Read the actual Constitution you will see this. The Year of our Lord was a common practice in documenting the year in 1776 and is the only reference to God. That is the only reference to a higher being Our Pledge of Allegiance didn't have the term "Under God" until 1954. The reference to God in our currency roughly around the ending of the Civil War 1863/1864 depending on historian. But in 1776 we were a prodominately European Nation, now we are a melting pot of cultures and religions. So what you are telling me after our FOUNDING FATHERS made a point to make a seperation of church and state to not be like England (Church of England) we are saying that all religions are under Christianity in the eyes of the Government? Even our Founding Fathers didn't do that, but unlike now they were forward thinkers.
Personality I do not care what a person's religious beliefs are. They are their own, but my government doesn't need to determine which religion is better than another. But that is the path a lot of posters are taking on this subject.

Let's not mince history here. There is a concerted effort to remove the "mention" of GOD anywhere in this USA. This President is on record for stating "America is NOT a Christian country". You may be an historian in your own rights, but this Democratic party has exposed it's agenda.
Whether it is changing Christmas season to "Holiday season"
Not allowing the mention of GOD in our Public schools.
That is where I think the constitution and current liberalism differ.
The term "separation of church State" is being overdone to accomodate 10% of this country. Remember , we all had prayer in all public schools. Many historic documents and movies show that with certainty.
I am not blind to the direction of liberalism. A little at a time.
The name of "Education" has replaced religion.
Many Catholics choose the accredited private school education.
Govt. has stolen that with "Forced" public education support.
That is wrong. My $2,000 private education cost is equivalent to the $2,000 public ed cost "THAT I DO NOT NEED NOR USE".
So Catholics pay $4,000 for Education . WHY?
I know it is intentionally to financially Force me to Public ed. where I cannot even "pray". Just like the const says to keep our Govt out of religious liberty, I equate the financial duplication of Education as "stealing my religious support"
I am on a mission to change that.
Do you see my point.?
Michael D.
2:31 pm on Thursday, September 6, 2012
Paul,
I'm not mincing history when I'm counterpointing your agrument. Dismissing the counterpoint to your agrument is beneath both of us. If you are going ot make a statement like "Do you know the founding Fathers had much diversity on religious beliefs. But, their constitution and Bill of rights is full of references to a creator, "GOD"" and found inaccurate, accept it.
As far as an agenda to move away from Christianity. The government is supposed to be a representation of the people, all the people. And their is a slow shift away from Christianity. 32% of the world's population is Christian and about 75% (census bearu) of the nation's population considers themselves Christian. That is the lowest in history, so yes Christianity has been less emphasised.
I disagree with the outright banning of prayer in school, but I do not agree with the mandatory prayer in school. I used to pray before football games and after games. This is a case of Judical branch interpretation of the Constitution, not liberal bill creating.
I disagree with the change from "Merry Christmas" to "Happy Holidays", but that wasn't due to liberal agenda, due to a lawyer making some money with a "damaged" client feeling excluded by a store for the cashier saying "Merry Christmas". Not wanting to be next on the litigation trail stores/companies made changes. That is your judical branch you need to blame for that.
Religion and Education both start at home.
PaulRevere

75% is indeed a super-majority in any poll.
As I read through all your weak excuses for "Prayer" and Christmas, I am convinced
you represent the minority of what America stands for.
That is, A Christian Country undergoing assault by a minority.
Let me add, up until now Christians have been much less aggressive in changing the playing field. This is no longer about "Book history".
Rather it is about "moral History".
I would prefer the minority use their own funds to make their case.
I do not believe my money in the name of "public education" should support any opposing causes.
A Fair tax from Christians to pay for "public education" that supports non-GOD and no prayer will be argued by a majority as they see the light.
Michael D.

You strike with "history" and you are proven wrong. Then you change tactics and shown again you are speaking of opinions. I would like to know which founding fathers moral history you want to discuss. The ones who enjoy prostitution, slavery, etc... Just because the facts don't match your case. We are a great country established by great but human (flawed) people. We were based on a group of people running from tyranny of a Religious/Empire Government. But it's ok for us to create the religious constraints on our citizens, because that is our moral history? Because men that are obviously much greater than those we have in office had the forthought to create a doctine to stop it happening here.
But much like Fox News or MSNBC lets not get facts get in the way of a good story.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Democratic officials are moving President Barack Obama's convention speech Thursday indoors because of the possibility of severe weather.
Obama had planned to accept his party's nomination in an outdoor football stadium before a crowd of up to 74,000 people. But Obama officials said forecasters have predicted severe thunderstorms in the 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. hour, raising concerns about the safety of supporters, volunteers, staff members and law enforcement.

Michael D. - The answer to your question regarding job growth is found on the BLS website (http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES0000000001?output_view=net_1mth). These charts demonstrate conclusively that from Oct, 2010 until now each and every month there was an increase in the number of employees. Prior to that date there where months where the numbers went back and forth.

Torrey, and I would ask then what is the growth of specialized job. For people with a college education and higher. I know the non-specialize sector has grown vastly in the last 4 years. But that's not going to pay the student loans. From the same website you posted your graph, the statistics show total compensation for a all civilian job sectors has dropped in growth. Starting a 2.1 percent in Jan 2009, and peaking at 2.2 in Qtr 2 of 2011. And finished quarter 2 at 1.7 % change. Which says that jobs that are out there, are decreasing in value. Now in fairiness They have been falling from 4.0 since QTR 1 2002. But they were never below 3.0 until 2009. It also says the jobs that are created are worth less than the jobs that were lost. What good is it for a college graduate to be working at Wal-Mart when they have student loans to pay?

Have you seen the movie "2016, Obama's America" ?
Very good movie. Take friends or family. Take someone who's sitting on the fence, but go see it. You will not be disappointed.

Also, go see the movie adaptation of Chairman Mao's "Little Red Book".
I believe it may have been produced by the same propaganda team, and both pieces of trash are equally "believable".

2016 writed by a man who has never met Obama. When his "facts" are proven incorrect and shown to him he tells them that it isn't true. He is just the Conservative version of Michael Moore. Same guy, different lies.
Seriously!!

Tahti,
There are jobs low skill/low paying ones. Lets say you have student loans from 4 years at a University that you have to pay $500/month. Then you need housing, food, transportation, etc.. but the only jobs out there are going to pay you about $30,000/year which is roughly 1,155 before taxes every 2 weeks (approx. $924 after taxes). With the cost of housing especially in Pinellas county, most densely populated county in Florida housing is an real expense (315 sq ft studio apts in bad sections for $450/month). A person would be struggling at best. I know a number of people with Advanced Degrees who were laid off because of the economic downturn and are not able to find work that would allow them to pay all their commitments.
The fact is the man made Campaign Promises, regardless if he has control or not he made those promises. He said in multiple campaign stops in 2008 that he will be judged on his ability to create jobs for highly skilled works. Well it's 2012 and those questions are being asked. You can't blame people for asking the questions of him that he said needed to be asked of him now, and he was asking of the Republican Party in 2008.
Sorry, but these questions are on Obama.

Tahti:
Do you care to be specific?
What exactly about this "current history" of obama (2009-2012), do you want to
challenge me on.?
And if I don't hear back from you, let all the commentators here label you some
mis-placed self-assessed Liberal elite-ist.
Just to make it fair, you can do this with all your books open.

Tampa Bay Area is in the top three areas nationally in the effected by the recession/depression. Some people just do not have the option to leave the area due to family or other factors. It is good that you do have that option, and have found something that works.

What makes any of you people think that a person has to believe in a god to be a moral person. People have believed in thousands of different gods over thousands of years. Most of us would not recognize the names of these gods today even though millions believed in them at that time. They are long forgotten as your gods today will be in the distant future. The world didn't begin with Judeo-Christian beliefs. People existed before them who knew nothing of your myths. And why do you christians think that you have some kind of stranglehold on morality. Who is the person you would have as President. The strong christian who goes to church on Sunday and screws his fellow man every other day both figuratively and literally or the atheist who respects his fellow man and treats him as he would be treated. I know, some of you would take the christian over the atheist just because he is christian. Make your choice for President based on this silliness or whether he is Mormon or Christian or Black or White or Gay or straight. Sad, little, small minded people!
