What to Know for St. Paddy's Day Weekend in Dunedin

Between Cricketers three-day parking lot party and Flanagan's two-day street festival, here's everything you need to plan for St. Patrick's Day weekend in Dunedin.

Two outdoor multi-day bashes and one weekend.

That's how Dunedin likes to do St. Patrick's Day.

And since March 17 falls on a Sunday this year, both St. Patty's celebrations — one on downtown Main Street and the other in Causeway Plaza — are full weekend affairs.

Here's what's to know for each celebration:

Cricketers Parking Lot Tent Party

This indoor and outdoor parking lot tent party features three days of live music, drink and food specials, a costume contest, a photo booth, green beer and more in Causeway Plaza.

  • Where: Mike and Lisa's Cricketers British Pub & Restaurant
  • Food: Corned beef and cabbage, Shepherd's pie, Fish 'n' chips
  • Drink Deals: $5 Guinness, Bush Mills, Jameson, Baileys and Irish car bombs; $3 green beer (16-ounces)

  • Live Music: Strange Brew, 8 p.m. Friday; Four Star Riot, 3 p.m. and Shenanigans, 8 p.m. Saturday; The New Rulers, 2 p.m.; Greg Billings Band, 7 p.m. Sunday.
  • Parking/Transportation:
    - Jolley Trolley is running.
    Free Parking: in Causeway Plaza

Flanagan's Street Festival

This is the first time in more than a decade that Flanagan's Irish Pub's annual festival closes downtown Main Street for two consecutive days of St. Paddy's celebration. The festival features two days of live music, Fox 13's Charley Belcher, drink and food specials, green beer and more downtown.

Drink all the green beer you can suck down! But don't eat the food until you walk down the Ally behind the event (between Main st and Wood st) and see the rats big enough to eat a cat and the trash on the ground, and the grease everywhere and the screens with holes in them and two guys smoking that look like they gave up bathing years ago!
