Pinellas County detectives are still searching for two people suspected of robbing the Union Street Munchee's at gunpoint late Jan. 15.

In video surveillance released Jan. 28, one suspect can be seen ordering one of the Munchee's clerks behind the counter. Detectives are seeking the public's help in identifying the suspects.

His voices can be heard clearly in the video.

Authorities report that two armed suspects entered Munchee's on Union Street in Dunedin at about 9:35 p.m.

One suspect, acting as a lookout, ordered a clerk near the door to lay on the ground, while second suspect ordered the other clerk to go behind the counter, where he demanded money from the cash register and cartons of cigarettes.

Both the clerks complied with the the demands, said Cecilia Barreda, a Pinellas County Sheriff's spokeswoman.

The suspect struck the clerk over the head with his gun after he'd taken an undisclosed amount of cash and various cartons of cigarettes and, then, fled on foot.

The clerk sustained a small cut to the back of his head. He was treated at the scene by Dunedin Fire paramedics.

Suspect Descriptions:

One suspect is described as a black male, last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with what appears to be a Hollister logo, dark baggie pants and a black bandanna over his face. He was seen carrying a red backpack.

The second suspect is described as a black male, last seen wearing a black hoodie with long black shorts that had a white vertical stripe, and black and white basketball shoes. He was also seen wearing a dark-colored bandanna over his face.

Suspects Tied to String of Convenience Store Robberies?

Detectives believe the duo may be connected to a Jan. 19 robbery at Dodge's Store on Cleveland Street in Clearwater. That investigation is being handled by Clearwater Police Department.

A second Munchee's on Bayshore Boulevard in Dunedin was robbed at gunpoint two days later, on Jan. 17. A man carrying a handgun entered the Bayshore Boulevard store at about 8:30 p.m. and ordered cash from the register, scratch-off lottery tickets and spice products. He fled on foot, Barreda reports.

The suspect is described as 6 feet tall and about 175 pounds. He was wearing a black ski mask and dark colored jacket and dark gloves. The man's race is not known at this time.

Barreda said detectives have not yet determined if it is connected to the robbery on Union Street.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Jeff Capra at 727-582-6200, or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers (a 24-hour tip line) at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477).

Lol. No, sir. I got word from Cecilia Barreda earlier today that the Public Information Office intended to release the video (on YouTube) and would send out with a link in a Media Alert (goes out to all outlets simultaneously). In hopes someone would recognize the suspect's voice, I believe the video received some audio-enhancements. I released it the moment it became available!

So all the crabs that complained about the Sheriff not releasing the information now have an answer why it took so long. Obviously the audio needed to be enhanced. And don't tell me the Sheriff should have released the limited description since they covered their faces. You people with only time on your hands would be calling PCSO to hassle every black male that is wearing Hollister gear or long black shorts.

PCSO must have some pretty slow audio-enhancing equipment, then, lol. Did they have valid reasons for the delay? Maybe. Maybe not. But it wasn't because it took this long to enhance the audio!

Maybe if they put the video up, someone would recognize them.
