Whole Foods Location: Spy Photo Reveals Store's Split at Countryside Mall
A photo shared recently on Serendipity Cafe's Facebook page shows how the possible splitting of the Sears to wedge in the natural food grocery store at Westfield Countryside Mall would work.
Kim Mohr just went to Sears to pick up a freezer for her restaurant.
Little did she know she would stumble across plans that seem to confirm a Whole Foods grocery store is coming to the Sears at Westfield Countryside Mall. She shared the photo which shows how the possible splitting of the Sears to wedge in the grocery store would work recently on Serendipity Cafe's Facebook page.
"It's not a rumor anymore, it's official! Deep in the bowels of Sears, I came across the blueprints," she said in a post on her Dunedin restaurant's Facebook page. "Whole Foods is taking over the first floor of Sears at Countryside Mall, opening 2014."
While the photo of the plans seems to confirm a Whole Foods is coming to the mall, city officials said Thursday no official plans to create space for the nearly 38,000 square foot store have been submitted for review.
The plans show how Sears would keep the south entrance near BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse and the service and merchandise pick-up entrances on the north part of the building. New facades would be installed at the Sears entrances. The four loading bay docks would be split.
Whole Foods customers would have access to the store from the west entrance of Sears. There would not be an entry to the grocery store from inside the mall, according to the plans.
Inside, the escalators would be moved, and a wall would be built.
Already officials with the mall have said plans are moving forward. Whole Foods officials said they do not have a specific location in mind yet but are planning to open a store in Clearwater sometime in 2014.
