The Dunedin Friends of the Library held a magnificent fund raising event in the Library on Saturday, Sept. 15, to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Friends and the 25th Anniversary of the Library Foundation.
The “Dinner in the Stacks” was a huge success and a great time was had by all. Money was raised that will go directly to adult, teen and children’s programming. We want to thank the Friends for putting so much love and work into their efforts.
What’s coming up at the Library this week? Our regular story times and Music Mash, our regular computer classes on Tuesday and Thursday at 11 a.m., our regular Tuesday at Two movie, and a special Tricky Dogs show on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. If you have not witnessed the antics of the Tricky Dogs before, be sure to come to this program! You will see some of the cutest puppies perform circus tricks that will amaze and astonish you!
We are very excited that the Dunedin Public Library will be getting new carpeting in the next few weeks. At that time, trenching in the floor will also be done to allow for more floor outlets to be installed for patrons to use electronics in the Library with easier access. We will publish more exact closing dates in the near future. When the main Library is closed, the Dunedin Friends’ Branch at the Community Center will host longer hours for the convenience of our patrons.
Don’t forget to drop off your drawers for Clothes to Kids here at the Dunedin Public Library. We will be accepting donations of new children’s underpants from Monday, Sept. 24 until Wednesday, Oct. 24. Clothes to Kids gives five new school outfits to children in need. Gently used clothing is fine, however, kids need NEW underpants! We collected 927 pairs last October and we hope to collect at least 1,000 pairs this year. Help us reach our goal!
As always, I recommend grabbing a good book and curling up with it this week to enjoy a moment or two by yourself. Saturday was the first day of Fall — make some tea or hot cocoa to go with that book!
