Library Long-Range Plan Public Meeting; Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Day Essay Contest

Happy Halloween! The Dunedin Public Library has been very busy this past couple of weeks getting reorganized after our carpet re-do and then preparing for the spooky festivities in town. I hope your Halloween is ghastly!

Looking forward to this next week at the Dunedin Public Library, director Phyllis Gorshe is happy to announce that we will have a Strategic Plan Public Meeting on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at 6 p.m. in the Library Community Rooms. The Library is updating our Long Range plan and we need your help. We are looking to you for priorities and new directions the Library should consider. Come to the meeting with your ideas, insights and passions regarding the Library. The meeting will be facilitated by Charlie Parker of the Tampa Bay Library Consortium. This is your opportunity to express your opinions about what our Library will be now and in the future. If you have any questions, please call 727-298-3080. The meeting is open to everyone and everyone in Dunedin is invited!

The Dunedin Public Library Youth Services Department is again collecting essays for the City of Dunedin Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Day Essay Contest.  Our topic this year is to elaborate on this quote by Desmond Tutu: “We inhabit a universe that is characterized by diversity.” Five children will be chosen to win prizes and read their essays at the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Day Breakfast on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013.  Essays should not exceed 500 words and are due by Dec. 21, 2012 to Olivia Wilson (that’s me) at owilson@dunedinfl.net or mail/drop off at Dunedin Public Library Youth Services Department, 223 Douglas Ave., Dunedin, Florida 34698. Please note on your essay your name, age, address, school/home school and phone number. Call 727-298-3080, Ext. 240 for further information. City of Dunedin schools are welcomed to participate as are any children who live in Dunedin.

Share a book with someone this week, I will!
