The Dunedin Housing Authority (DHA) recently bought and renovated Fairway Gardens Apartments, a two-building, mixed-income apartment development. While our budget for the affordable apartments included new interior paint, refurbished floors and countertops, new landscaping, and even new HVAC units, funding was not available for one important thing – new outdoor signs for the buildings!
In an effort to solve this problem and to identify the buildings without spending any additional taxpayer dollars, DHA is turning to the community it serves. We are looking for local artists who may be interested in donating their time to design and/or fabricate outdoor signs for Fairway Gardens I (30 Lady Mary Drive North) and Fairway Gardens II (110 Lady Mary Drive North). If you or anyone you know is interested in this opportunity, please contact me at abutler@stpeteha.org or at 727-773-6198.
This isn’t the first time that DHA has involved the local community in our efforts. In 2010, Dunedin resident Jan Provino won DHA’s city-wide logo design contest, creating a new logo for the agency which captured the housing authority’s mission to provide a variety of safe, sanitary, accessible, decent and affordable housing for eligible citizens.
We can’t wait to see what creative designs and cost-effective solutions our local artists will come up with for Fairway Gardens signs!
