What's Going On at the Library? Week of June 25

What a wonderfully busy summer we are having at Dunedin Public Library!  So many people come through our doors every day to catch up with friends, get some new materials, come to a program or just get some quiet time to read.

Our Circulation Department is probably the first place you visit when you come in the Library and certainly the last place you go before you leave. We have a dedicated group of people who make up our Circ Department!  One of them, Lynn Sanford, is retiring next week after 20 years working in this Library.  We are so happy and proud of Lynn, but it is bittersweet, since we will miss her so much! Lynn works hard to make sure all of our materials are loaned and returned together on time and in good shape. Her shoes will be hard to fill, since we circulate thousands of items every week.

If you are thinking about coming to the Dunedin Public Library this week, don’t miss our Adult Computer Classes on Tuesday and Thursday at 11 a.m.  Mark Young, one of our reference librarians, will be discussing and teaching “Movie Maker” Parts 1 and 2.  Adult Services will also be presenting on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. “Book Talk with Mary Orme” – the author will discuss and sign her book, Good Chi, the Sea and Me, a full color biography/travel essay.  These programs are open with no registration required.

Youth Services has a big week coming up including our regular story times and Music Mash. Mondays at 10 a.m. we have Baby and Me - Music Mash is at 3:30 p.m. that afternoon.  Toddler Times are Wednesdays at 10 or 11 a.m., and Preschool Story Times are on Thursdays at 10 or 11 a.m. No registration is required for our story times! We will not have story times the week of July 4, but will resume the week after.

Teens and tweens will be interested in our “Nerd Night Gaming” program on Tuesday evening beginning at 5 p.m. Ms. Katherine is breaking out the Wii and Kinect games, I’m sure.  Friday afternoon, June 29  at 2 p.m. we will host “Star, the Miniature Horse,” in our Community Rooms. She is three feet tall and loves children! Come see Star and learn about miniature horses. No registration required for Nerd Night or Star!

Saturday, June 30, the Youth Services Department will have a game day including family Bingo at 2 p.m.  Sunday, July 1 – there are special “Star Spangled Crafts” from 1-4:30 p.m. in the Story Time Room - no registration required.

Make every week a Library week in your family.  We have new materials every week and exciting programs all summer!
