What Part of Plan "B" Don't You Get?

A look at our future

What part of plan "B" don't you get?

Does anyone else get sick and tired of the same ole idiotic jargon as I do? Plan B is a pill that stops a woman from ovulating! It's not an abortion! However, if your religious beliefs contradict the use of the regular pill then you in fact cannot take the "Plan B" pill either. That is your real problem isn't it! Everyone's just afraid to spit it out and say it.

There is basically one thing that drives every anti-abortion, anti-contraception, anti-women's health choice bill. It's FEAR! You are afraid. Your afraid of the god you worship or those that you worship with. If your a man, your afraid women will take over and leave you behind. Your afraid women will not like how you have been handling things for the last 2-3 thousand years (now that last one might be true since we've mucked it up pretty bad).

I love when the "moral" word gets thrown out because whose morals are we talking about? Yours? Mine? The guy down the street? Oh! and the phrase, "it's gods will" really! Gods will for you to take a little blue pill so you can now get a woman pregnant?  But not God's will if she doesn't want to get pregnant? You are picking and choosing what is a gods will based on your own selfish needs and desires. Not based on some scripture or written godly text! That my friend is called envy, greed and gluttony, hmmm isn't that three of the deadly sins?

When you choose what a particular gods will is, you have just turned your god into nothing more than a spiritual bellhop! He/she is no longer the god, rather you have become the god and doesn't that just defeat the whole purpose of saying you belief in a god?

Pills, abortions, contraception and abstinence are simply nothing more than scientific means to control pregnancy. They are medical procedures based on science not religion. If your strongly held beliefs guide you to not take the pill, use a condom or get an abortion then okay don't get it, more power to ya! I mean that with complete sincerity. However you choosing a path does not mean you can ridicule, belittle and legislate your religious beliefs on others in a country founded on freedom of religion. That might work in a third world theocracy but that ain't gonna cut it in America.

Also one of my favorite phrases is, "this is how we've been doing it for two thousand years and were not about to change it now". I truly laugh my butt off at that one. For starters NO! that is not how its been done for two thousand years and NO! you don't get to rewrite history to fit your particular belief. However you are right that you have had every opportunity to try a variety of methods on controlling women and people that do not believe as you do simply in the name of your god. Hence America popped on the scene. It may have taken us a while to get to this point but we are finally here.

Slavery has been around longer than Christianity, does that make slavery correct? Of course not! People need the chance to choose what is right for their health within a simple framework of safety and since there are so many of us that framework should be handled by the government we elect. Hence, laws governing medical practice. Leave out religion in science and leave out science in religion. There is a public realm and a private realm but we don't seem to respect the difference.

For example, if a Catholic church does not want to provide birth control to its nuns and priests I get that, it not a good idea in my opinion but that is in their church but when the church owns a business in the public realm and offers insurance, yes it should offer what the employees want. If a preacher preaches to his flock that abortion is evil and will send you to hell, well okay go for it! But  that same preacher cannot dictate to people outside his flock how they should lead their lives. That is what religious freedom is all about. Just because an abortion is a legal medical procedure does not mean you have to run out and get one. Your morals are your morals and your beliefs are yours not everyone else's.

The really odd thing about all this controversy is that none of the solutions solve the problem, they only address the symptoms of the problem. The real issue is making individual judgements that negatively affect your future and well being. Remember the biblical phrase about giving a man a fish and he'll be fed for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll never be hungry again? Well it's all about teaching isn't it and while they are learning we still gotta help feeding till they get it. Every generation needs to be taught and the teaching and giving never stops, it has no end but has much better results than demonizing or giving outrageous ultimatum's.

Show a person a reasonable path to happiness, fully expecting them to make mistakes along the way while at the same time allowing for that individual to make choices and you have a real American. You have what we all are supposed to really be about.

But hey! What do I know? I'm just a plumber!
