Literacy Tutors Training Workshop, Sat, Oct 5 Dunedin Community Center

The Literacy Council of Upper Pinellas, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, is holding a Tutor Workshop, Saturday, Oct 5 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm at the Dunedin Community Center, 1920 Pinehurst Road in Dunedin.

LCUP is in need of individuals 18-years-old or more to help in the cause of literacy by providing one-to-one tutoring or small group tutoring of adults who need help with reading and writing, or to new speakers of English.

The Oct 5 workshop is an initial introductory training session and will be followed up with continued instruction after being placed with a student. Tutors must attend the initial training and follow-up to be certified. Basic computer skills are helpful and tutors must be committed to meet with their student/s on a regular basis for lessons.
