5 Things We Hope You Didn't Miss

You work hard, so we understand you may have missed something. Let us catch you up on the highlights in less time than it takes to finish your coffee.

1) A City of Dunedin firefighter entered his 3-year-old daughter, who has cerebral palsy, in another online voting contest that may help them fund expensive therapy sessions. (See how you can vote for them.)

2) A citizen committee met this week to discuss the preservation and aesthetic future of Edgewater Drive, among the topics: the vacant, unfinished, waterfront home at 570 Edgewater Drive. They want it gone, but for now must wait for new codes, the market and time to run its course. (Read more.)

3) We were pleased to help two young couples announce their engagements on Patch! One couple got engaged at Flanagan's Irish Pub (read more). The other couple met at the Dunedin Brewery (read more). (You can post your wedding or engagements in our Announcement section on Patch.)

4) We learned that we have TWO heroes in our midst. The first is a man who saved a woman who crashed into the water along Edgewater Drive on Valentine's Day. He was even selected as the Huffington Post's "Greatest Person of the Day!" (Read more.) The second is a safety guard at Dunedin Highland Middle School who's faced some rough situations while on duty. (Read more.)

5) The Funedin lip dub to the rock song "Shiny, Happy People," was so fun that it caught the attention of R.E.M., the 1990s band that made the original song. (Read more.)
