Dunedin Woman Wins $1 Million in Florida Lottery

Joann Roman told lotto officials that her winnings will help her and her family buy a home.

A Florida Lottery scratch-off game paid off for another Dunedin woman this week.

Joann Roman, 43, bought a $20 scratch-off Billion Dollar Blockbuster game at on San Christopher Drive. She told the Florida Lottery that she cried when she saw her winning ticket. 

Roman picked up her winnings at the Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee this week, according to a Florida Lottery news release.

She told lottery officials that the winnings would go toward her family’s dream of homeownership.

Florida Lottery reports that she chose a one-time, lump-sum payout of $650,000.

She is the 44th person to claim a $1 million prize in the scratch-off game, according to Florida Lottery. Seventy-six $1-million prizes remain.
