Five Things to Know Today: Thursday, June 16

Or maybe we should say, five WINGS you should know today ...

  1. Expect mostly sunny skies, with a high near 91 and heat index values as high as 99. National Weather Service also forecasts a 20 percent chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms.
  2. Cheapest reported cash price for gas in Dunedin is at the on Bayshore and Skinner boulevards, according to TampaGasPrices.com. Cost is $3.52 per gallon of regular fuel.
  3. The Pinellas County School Board earmarked $6,000 of $74,000 in Raytheon MathMovesU grants for on Tuesday. The rest of the grant money was divvied out to five other Pinellas schools.
  4. Tonight is finally all-you-can-eat at (6 to 8 p.m., $10 admission)! It's also Thirsty Thursday, so regular drink specials still apply ($1 beer and soda)! Winners of the wing-eating contest get gift certificates from participating restaurants. And, as if all of that wasn't cool enough, Tampa Bay's Country Station WQYK 99.5 FM will be there.
  5. If you're interested in becoming Dunedin's next “Miss Dunedin Orange Queen,” call 727-736-6276 for more information.
