Five Things You Should Know Today

Lots to chew on this Friday morning, but you can do it.

1) YOUR GOVERNMENT: Here are the big decisions from last night's meeting at :

  • Commissioners extended their terms to coincide with the new November elections schedule. They added 8 months to their term in response to voters' decision to extend elections from once every three years to once every four.
  • City Commissioners voted 4-1 to acquire a private condominium community's stormwater drainage system, which is in need of emergency repair. Read about the issue .
  • The City discussed a resolution that would allow golf carts to drive on certain streets where the speed limit is not more than 35 miles per hour. The resolution will go up for a final vote on April 7 and would not take effect until July 1.

2) Need to fill up? Cheapest cash gas price in Dunedin is reportedly at the on Bayshore and Skinner boulevards. Last night's sign showed $3.41 for regular-grade fuel.

3) TODAY'S WEATHER: Mostly sunny with highs in the upper 70s, according to the National Weather Service. Remember your sunglasses and stay hydrated!

4) As you begin your Friday and start planning for the weekend, make room for some of these Dunedin events that benefit others or celebrate the community:

5) TRAFFIC REMINDER: Patricia Avenue permanently closed at a point just south of McLean Street this week. The road was a popular cut-through to Dunedin High School. The City Commission decided to close it during a as part of a residential traffic management initiative.
