Several Dunedin churches invite pet owners to bring their leashed animals for a blessing in honor of St. Francis of Assisi's Feast Day on Oct. 4.
St. Francis is considered the patron saint of animals and many Catholic and Christian churches celebrate his Feast Day with a blessing for animals each year.
Below are two Dunedin churches where residents can get their animals blessed Friday and Sunday. All animals are welcome, but must be leashed.
Blessing For Your Pets
When: 2:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 4Where: Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School parking lot
Blessing of the Animals
When: 10 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 6Where: Church of the Good Shepherd
