Great Escape: Sometimes a Little Dab'll Do Ya

Art from the Heart Cafe offers Girls' Night Out the third Friday of each month.

Parenting is a tough job. You deserve to take a breather every now and again. But what should you do with your downtime? Each week, we bring you one great idea to de-stress. In doing so, we hope to make your life a little easier, maybe a whole lot easier.

Moms, this week call up your sister or a girlfriend and head over to , a paint-you-own-pottery shop on Broadway.

If you have not experienced pottery painting, it is definitely an escape from the real world. Not only do you spend time gabbing with friends, or perhaps meet some new ones, while you paint. You get to flex your creativity and paint till your heart's content. It's a great way to momentarily tune out the real world, the hustle and bustle of work, the TV and computers and release the unwanted stresses of life. And one week later, you have something pretty and fun to show for it.

Every third Friday, Art from the Heart Cafe hosts a themed evening for the ladies, Girls' Night Out. Owner Joey Morgan said in a recent interview, "We get in a lot of moms, teachers, women in stressful jobs and seniors on that night, and it is so much fun. The addition of the door prizes has been really fun. I ask the local merchants and restaurants to donate a gift certificate to their business and we usually give away six to eight door prizes throughout the night to the ladies and they love it."

So moms, you may want to consider this for your next Girls' Night Out. Join Joey and other Dunedin moms for a free glass of wine, a little dab of paint, door prizes, and, best of all, some relaxation, every third Friday at 6 p.m.
