Zombie Hayride Highlights 'Halloween Happening'

Volunteers and fun-seekers, mark your calendar for this year's "Halloween Happening." It features a Zombie Apocalypse Haunted Hayride, Boo in the Zoo and more.

The start of October signals the countdown to Dunedin's Halloween Happening.

If you're looking for some tricks or treats this Halloween, this Dunedin Parks & Recreation Department event is a must. It features events for the entire family, from toddler to adult. Here are a few things you'll want to know:

  1. When/Where: Oct. 27, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Highlander Park and Dunedin Community Center
  2. Cost: $10 wristband + $5 for parking (cash only) + $5 for hayride (ATM is available) = proceeds benefit the Dunedin For Youth Scholarship Fund
  3. Food: Concessions available

Volunteer Needs

Boo in the Zoo, a non-scary event for children 2 to 6, is looking for 20 youth and adult volunteers to sit behind a puppet show wall and hand out candy; shifts are 5 to 7:30 p.m. and 7:15 to 9:45 p.m.

Halloween Happening, a fun event with story-telling and costume contest, is looking for 50 costumed teen or adult volunteers to run carnival games, distribute prizes; shift is 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Haunted Hayride, a scary event with a Zombie Apocalypse theme, is looking for 75 costumed teen or adult volunteers; shift is 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
