Our Lady Of Lourdes Church Gets New Green Paint Job

Our Lady of Lourdes Church has a new and spirit-filled new look. What do you think of the color?

The new, bold green exterior look at Our Lady of Lourdes Church is meant to be a mission statement to the community, says Rev. Gary Dowsey, pastor at the church.

"When I first saw the colors I was somewhat unsure," he writes in a Sept. 1 bulletin message to his parishioners, "but I have to say they have certainly grown on me."

The church, the Conmy Center and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School were all painted using the same green color scheme.

Dowsey explained that the colors were chosen by the designer, who was inspired to use green to signify the beauty of creation. The color is also that of "hope," Dowsey says, and shares this bit of history:

"In Brazil, Pope Francis distributed 'green rosaries,' encouraging millions of young people to be signs of hope in a broken and divided world. ... We must be BOLD witnesses to the Gospel message of Jesus and our newly painted buildings reflect our mission."
