Another Sign of Spring

Girl Scouts are back on the streets with cookies.

Junior Scout Casey Reedy, a fourth grader from Girl Scout Troop 596 in Tarpon Springs, and her mother stand at the corner of Bayshore Boulevard and Curlew Road alerting drivers of their annual Girl Scout cookie sales site.

Troop 596 is selling the cookies at the in Caladesi Shopping Center until 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25. Boxes are $3.50.

Casey's mother, Melissa Reedy, earned a Gold Award rank, which is the equivalent of Eagle Scout. She has been involved with Girl Scouts for 26 years. "If you're in it like me," Reedy said, "You bleed green."

The troop is working toward a 2012 trip to Savannah, Ga., which would mark the 100th anniversary in the birthplace of the Girl Scouts of the USA.

  • Saturday, Feb 26: Winn Dixie, 955 South Pinellas Ave., Tarpon Springs, 1 to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Feb. 27: Winn Dixie, 955 South Pinellas Ave., Tarpon Springs, 1 to 5 p.m.
  • Friday, March 4: Publix, 619 S. Fort Harrison Ave., Clearwater, 4 to 9 p.m.
