Rehabilitated Sea Turtle from Honeymoon Returns to Sea

Drew, a 135-pound loggerhead sea turtle, was released Wednesday morning on Clearwater Beach.

Drew couldn't wait for her release Wednesday morning on Clearwater Beach near the Palm Pavilion.

Drew, a 135-pound loggerhead sea turtle, was found emaciated, weighing just 105 pounds, and floating in shallow water near Honeymoon Island on June 30. She was also was having trouble diving when rescuers found her.

After a few months of rehabilitation with the Clearwater Marine Aquarium turtle team, Drew was ready to get back to sea.

This is the fifth turtle rescued, rehabilitated and released by the aquarium this year.
