Trip Of A Lifetime: Couple Visits The 'Other' Dunedin

Once Gillian Thomas learned of a city in Florida with the same name as her own, she knew visiting the "other Dunedin" would need to go on her bucket list.

Thomas and her husband Richard Greer of Dunedin, New Zealand, got to cross it off their bucket list this week.

And city officials were there to extend a warm Dunedin (FL) welcome. Thomas and Greer arrived at City Hall on Thursday morning, exchanged Dunedin-themed gifts, and shared commonalities between the same-named cities.

The couple was then escorted throughout the city by Lisa Dozois, former Radio Dunedin talk show host, which is how she struck up a long-distance friendship with Thomas. (New Zealand has a radio program with the same name).

Thomas and Greer visited local shops and restaurants, swam at Caladesi Island and, naturally, visited the brewery that dons their home city's name.

Thomas, who does a lot of marketing for Dunedin, New Zealand, says she's looking forward to writing about her trip when they return.
