Patricia Avenue Palms: What Do You Think?

Palm trees are now a part of the landscape along Patricia Avenue.

All 51 date palms were added to add aesthetic appeal near the vacant parcel that was once the Nielsen headquarters on both sides of the road from Lyndhurst to Lexington Street.

They are one component of a $187,700 streetscaping project that also included sidewalk, landscape and irrigation improvements to the Patricia Avenue corridor. Parsonii Juniper, fountain grass and Coontie plants were also planted, according to city records.

Greg Rice
, director of planning and development, said residents need not be worried about browning fronds. They will fall to the ground as the trees work through the initial shock of being planted, he said.
