Country Music Star Reunites with Dunedin Band

White, Dunedin born and raised, went on to become one of the most popular female country singers in the mid-1990s, according to her CMT bio.

Lari White is one of the few American country artists who went on to have a successful entertainment career after winning on Nashville Network's talent competition "You Can Be A Star" in 1988.

White, Dunedin born and raised, went on to become one of the most popular female country singers in the mid-1990s, according to her CMT bio

And this month, White, 48, is reuniting for a free live performance at Dunedin VFW Post 2550 with one of her first rock bands, Full Tilt, formed when the group went to Dunedin High School in 1982. The group will be playing 1970s- and '80s-era rock 'n' roll music. White was introduced to music as a kid singing at local gatherings and churches as part of her family gospel group "White Family Singers." As a teen at Dunedin High, she sang in Full Tilt and appeared in local talent contests, her CMT bio says

She went on to pursue music engineering and vocals at the University of Miami, and then, eventually took her chances and moved to Nashville in 1988, where she wowed judges later that year on "You Can Be A Star," according to CMT

Her career really took off when White released debut album "Lead Me Not" in 1993, but her second album, "Wishes" (1994), produced three Top 10 singles: "That's My Baby," "Now I Know" and "That's How You Know (When You're In Love)." She went on to finish three more albums, released in 1996, 2004, and 2007.
