Funedin Lip Dub Makes R.E.M. News

The people of Dunedin capture the hearts of rock stars with music video.

Dunedin's lip dub to "Shiny, Happy People" was so cute, the website for the original artists featured it in its official band news.

A Facebook group calling itself "Funedin" rallied hundreds of residents to film a lip-synched music video to R.E.M.'s "Shiny, Happy People." The video was , and quickly went viral. It has been viewed more than 13,200 times as of Feb. 14 (10 a.m.). 

The band featured the video in its news on Feb. 13, underneath the caption, "Here's a really fun video to ward of the winter blahs from some fabulous folks in Funedin, FL"

The Funedin lip dub video now features a commercial preview and a link for purchasing "Shiny, Happy People" from the orginal artist. 

Executive producer Kathy Carlson, co-owner of , and , is credited with the idea for the video. Raul Sanchez was the director.

"It was the best birthday party I ever threw myself," Carlson said.
