5 No-Miss Events in Dunedin This Weekend

Plenty to do in Dunedin this weekend, from Scottish country dancing lessons to K-9 demonstrations, seed swaps to paper lanterns, and giant trucks to helicopter landings.

12th Annual Dunedin Touch-A-Truck

  • When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 27
  • Where: Highlander Park
  • Why Go? This is event is hailed as the largest collection of trucks, cars, motorcycles, fire engines and tractors in the southeast. Plus, catch helicopter landings, K-9 demonstrations and so much more. (More info and event schedule.)

Community Marketplace

  • When: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 27
  • Where: Novel Blend, 1075 Main St
  • Why Go? Shop great deals on gently-used items and other treasures while snacking on some grill specialities from Main Street restaurant Our Place Dunedin. Proceeds go toward funding summer programs for children at the House of Mercy and Encouragement Foundation, a non-profit providing mental health and educational services to children and families. Life & Light Lantern Parade & Festival

  • When: Noon to 9 p.m., Sunday, April 28
  • Where: Pioneer Park
  • Why Go? Catch live music, shop for organic plants or swap for seeds, craft your own paper lantern and then bring it to the lantern lighting ceremony and parade when it gets dark at 8 p.m. This fun, family-friendly event features children's activities, hula hooping, raffles, food and educational garden and sustainability information. Remember your camera! Proceeds benefit Planting Seeds Workshop Series and the 1% Food Project. (More information.)

Grillin' for the Garden

  • When: 2 to 7 p.m., Sunday, April 28
  • Where: Dunedin Smokehouse
  • Why Go? Enjoy live music, food, drink specials and raffle prizes, plus you'll have an opportunity to learn great organic gardening tips from the experts. Proceeds benefit the Dunedin Community Garden's insurance expenses, community garden upkeep and speakers for their increasingly popular ongoing, free, educational workshops. (More information). 

Scottish Country Dancing

  • When: 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Sunday April 28 
  • Where: Scottish American Society of Dunedin
  • Why Go? For $3, why not go? Pick up some new dance moves that are sure to bring some smiles. No partner necessary. (More information; session times depend on experience level.)
