Creative Loafing Nods to Dunedin's Best

Regional weekly alternative news tab deems six people, places or things around Dunedin "Best of the Bay."

Six of Dunedin’s own recently earned bragging rights from regional weekly alternative news tab Creative Loafing's popular Best of the Bay contest.

Creative Loafing chooses what or whom it deems the area's best in categories such as politics, food and entertainment, but it also gives residents a chance to vote for their favorites in a reader's poll.

Dunedin Patch encourages you to take a look at the full 2011 list, and when you’re out and about, tip your hat to Dunedin’s latest Best of the Bay recipients:

1) nailed the “Best Dress-Up Party” category for its annual Wearable ART Fashion Show.

2) throws the “Best Fiesta” in Tampa Bay, according to Creative Loafing, for its Dia De Los Muertos Festival.

3) got the nod in the “Best Ice Cream Parlor for Aspiring Shop Owners” category. Creative Loafing was impressed with the owners’ beginner course for teaching the finer points of opening an ice cream parlor. 

4) Artist won the reader’s poll for “Best Outdoor Mural/Street Art,” we assume for her Dogedin Mural on the outside of . This year, that concept blossomed into Murals for Mutts, which has overtaken Tampa Bay in recent months. Hamilton has recently branched into St. Petersburg and .

5) Tralia Parks, who often performs at , won the reader’s poll for “Best Drag Name,” for the second year in a row. The Kelly's-Chic A Boom-Blur Facebook Page gave Tralia a proud shoutout for the reader's poll honor.

6) The Honeymoon Island Controversy won for “Best Civic Uprising Against a Stupid State Initiative.” Residents certainly and to tell the state what they thought about the possibility of opening Dunedin's beloved Honeymoon Island to overnight RV camping. See why Creative Loafing loved it.
