Dunedin Brewery Makes Splash at Oregon Brewers Festival

Florida's oldest craft brewery made its debut over the weekend at the well-known beer festival in Portland.

made a splash at this past weekend's Oregon Brewers Festival in Portland.

The Douglas Avenue craft brewery, Florida's oldest, was one of more than 80 participants at the annual festival, which celebrated its 25th anniversary July 26-29.

Dunedin Brewery offered its "FL-Oregon Trail," brewed specifically for the event, as it made its festival debut.

"We got a great reception from the drinkers at the fest, with our beer running out early each afternoon," brewery general manager Michael Bryant wrote in an email from the road Monday. "We also had one of the longest lines at the event, which really made us feel welcome in the Northwest."

Beer blog Brewpublic tapped the American-style India Pale Ale, brewed with orange peel and orange blossom honey, as one of its 25 picks for the festival, noting that Dunedin Brewery's beer "visits Oregon only rarely, so give it a friendly welcome."

Bryant said he also poured a keg of his beer collaboration with Dunedin's , "The Sun & the Sword Brewlinerweiss," at the festival. Seventh Sun owner Devon Kreps and a manager from Leuken's Liquors also traveled out to Portland "to help rep the city we all love," Bryant said.

The brewery recaps its three-week road trip for the festival in its blog. You can also follow their updates on their Facebook page. Bryant said he'll be editing and compiling all the video footage shot during their journey and host a public showing of it at the brewery when he gets back to town.
