Krispy Kreme Closes 'Hot Now' Location on U.S. 19 N

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts can no longer be found "hot now" just before Tampa Road on U.S. Highway 19 N in Palm Harbor.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts can no longer be found "hot now" in Palm Harbor.

Signs are taken down and brown paper covers the windows at the former storefront at 32130 U.S. Highway 19 N.

"We would like to thank you for your patronage over the years and hope you will visit us at the new location," says a letter hanging on the door from Stuart Brown, vice president.

The walk-in and drive-thru location closed Sept. 8. It will open on Sept. 20 at its new St. Petersburg location, 9100 4th St. N.

The letter cites impending traffic changes for planned construction between Clearwater and Palm Harbor on U.S. Highway 19 as the reason Krispy Kreme is looking to bring business to St. Petersburg.

The letter does not indicate a desire to stay in North Pinellas, but it doesn't rule out a future location in the middle of the county.

"We are continually looking for a replacement site in the mid-county area and hope to have it up very soon," the letter says.

Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnuts will still be available at Walmart, Publix, Winn Dixie and Sweetbay.

It's a shame that Krispy Kreme is available at so many grocery stores, gas stations and convenience stores. . . I remember the excitement of seeing the "hot now" sign and pulling over to buy one or a dozen . . . LOL . .. when they first start opening in Georgia . . . now you can buy them and pop them in the microwave . . .many more "hot now" locations will probably close as well!

I agree. Before you could get Krispy Kreme's at every store it was a great sight to see those few Krispy Kreme locations. I was always good for a chocolate frosted crème donut or four.

I would make the trip to Palm Harbor from New Port Richey for my Krispy Kreme's. I don't think I'll be going to St. Pete for them now. They're not the same from the stores. Besides, you don't have the selection from the store as you do in the shop. How about a shop up in Pasco!!
