Welcome, Frenchy's Outpost Bar and Grill!

Outpost regulars – as well as Frenchy's fans – offered well-wishes and a lot of suggestions to the new management.

At the stroke of "happy hour" Wednesday, a.k.a. 5 p.m., Island Outpost is scheduled to have a new name but the same laid-back attitude.

Frenchy's Outpost Bar and Grill announced Wednesday, June 26, that it will start serving "as is" at 466 Causeway Blvd. in Dunedin.

The folks at Frenchy's reached out to patrons in a Facebook post on Wednesday: "We are so excited to come to delightful Dunedin and look forward to serving you! We would like to keep the conversation going with you, hear your feedback and keep you informed during our transition."

Regulars were more than willing to offer ideas and express their support:

Tommy Kimball wrote on Facebook: "Keep it dog friendly!! And bring the oysters and grilled octopus!! Can't wait!!"

Cindy Dwyer said: "Such great news! All Frenchy's are very successful & I'm sure you'll do it with Frenchy's Outpost. Be stopping by for our 25th anniversary July 3. Will you be having the grouper sandwich soon! Hubby just loves it."

Judy Vargas Zimmerman suggested: "You need to continue to have Dave Muse play there. He's great for that place."

Trey Caraway said: "You have to bring the Grouper Bites and Cheddar Shrimp appetizers over."

Frenchy's responded in a warm and respectful way, saying that the company is in no rush to transform the Outpost but will be introducing some items. Here is the statement:

Frenchy's Outpost Bar and Grill: "We appreciate everyone’s feedback and are excited to bring the Frenchy’s brand to Dunedin. There will be a lot that will change and a lot that will stay the same. That’s why we are doing our homework and are taking our time to do it right. We fully understand this isn’t Clearwater Beach, but that’s what we are excited about - the chance to create an ambiance, menu and service level that is true to Frenchy’s but uniquely Dunedin. We promise great quality and fairly priced food, friendly service and a fun, casual atmosphere. As we work through all these changes, will keep you updated as much as possible."
