Sea Turtle
Honeymoon Island is "the beach," a place of meditation, boundless joy and delight in discovery. It inspires me to paint and to write. This excerpt is my very first blog.
The beach is where I learn to breathe again. It is where I lose my active thoughts and find in lieu a rare moment of internal quiet; perfect peace. It's a place of pacing prayer and meditation, boundless joy and delight in discovery.
A mile beyond the sea turtle nest, I found a perfect baby turtle in the sand! Oh! How incredible! Its tender shell already completely encrusted by barnacles! Unbelievable- how brave this tiny creature was; motionless in my hands! Such a steady gaze; so fixed, surely it could not be that its underside did indeed read: Made in China!
Come to think of it, had the barnacles not been so active in flicking their feathery tongues in and out, I should have placed this as a token, a nest guardian for the park rangers and turtles and beach combers to wonder over. But instead, I tossed him back into the sea; who would believe that moments like this happen for me at the beach, but are witnessed by no one. Cosmic hilarity!
