Dunedin Doggie Rescue Adoptable of the Week: Lucy

Lucy is the perfect little lady, hoping that someone will see that.

Lucy may be an older girl but she still has a lot of spunk. Lucy was given up by her owners at age of 10. How can anyone give up their dog after 10 years? It must have been hard for them, but more importantly, hard for Lucy.

She is just a little thing, barely 15 pounds. She is a Schnauzer-terrier mix, with scruffy black hair, clear eyes and a gentle, loving disposition. Lucy loves everyone, not with the rambunctious nature of a pup but more of quiet understanding that humans are good and she really enjoys their company.

For Lucy, sitting on the sofa and watching a movie is the best way to end the day.   She hardly ever barks and she has wonderful house manners, and would love the chance to prove that to someone.

Although she loves her walks, they are not as long as they used to be. But she will be the first one to the door if someone has a leash in their hand. She is good to other animals she meets, like cats and dogs. If a dog tries to intimidate her, she simply walks away. That is the beauty of age … with it comes the wisdom to do the right thing. She is a perfect little lady waiting for her perfect fur-ever home.

Are you the perfect fur-ever home for Lucy? If you would like to adopt Lucy, and you live in Dunedin, Clearwater, Clearwater Beach, Safety Harbor, Ozona, Crystal Beach, Palm Harbor or Oldsmar, fill out an adoption form, or stop by one of Dunedin Doggie Rescue events to meet her.

I visit Florida every winter and I am trying to find a small companion for my senior female beagle. I lost due to cancer my rotty of 11 years this past spring. I see your adoptions are in your area only - how unfortunate as you have some small ones that would definately be a perfect match. I am with Res. Dogs in Canada, Canada Animal Rescue and CK Animal Rescue and volunteer for home visits, transporting and fostering. Hope all your fur babies find wonderful homes. Ann

With our nations' urgent need to overhaul the health care system and each persons' need to deal withRead More increasing health care costs/decreasing quality of care, volunteering for SHINE could be part of the answer. The more you know, the better equipped you are to make postive changes for yourself and others. If, like me, you feel frustrated with the FL Legislature which seems to be working against us rather than for us; volunteering with organizations that educate the public in essential areas of concern can be an effective way to create grassroots changes. SHINE offers exceptional training and effectively updates it's volunteers regarding changes in the healthcare system. Sign up for thier training and you're sure to want to pass on what you learn to others.
