Five Things to Know Today: Wednesday, July 6

All the important stuff in one convenient place.

  1. Expect partly sunny skies, with a high near 90. But the heat index will make it feel like 97. The National Weather Service forecasts a 20 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms in the early afternoon.
  2. The lowest gas price is at the , 1621 Main St., for $3.37 per gallon regular-grade fuel (according to what's reported on TampaGasPrices.com).
  3. Today the Honeymoon Island Advisory committee, which is made up of community members, reviews all the comments from last night's . Dunedin Patch spoke with Florida Department of Environmental Protection Public Information Officer Kristin Lock, who wanted to be sure the community knew that absolutely no public comment will be heard at today's meeting. The public is allowed to listen in, however, there are only about 30 seats available. Location: Rotary Centennial Nature Center on Honeymoon Island, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  4. This is the first week of a revised yard waste pickup schedule. It changed to one day a week. If you have questions about what day to put your yard waste out, contact the city's Solid Waste Division at 727-298-3215, Ext. 21.
  5. Also, since it's already Wednesday (aren't holiday's great?), and you're probably thinking about the weekend, keep in mind that we're looking down the barrel of the second Friday of the month. That means it's time!
