GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview March 17-20

With a variety of entertainment venues and restaurants in the area, there's no reason to spend the weekend at home. We've put together a list of fun things to do in the Dunedin area.

It’s Thursday and the weekend’s just around the corner. If you’re still stumped on what to do, we’ve got some great ideas.

  •  Where/When: Flanagan's Irish Pub, 465 Main St. Thursday at 11 a.m.
  • Why Go: Flanagan's Irish Pub takes over downtown Dunedin today for its annual St. Patrick's Day street festival. The event features activities for kids, face painting, live music and traditional Irish foods. Flanagan's will be joined by a number of local businesses for a full day of Irish-inspired entertainment.
  • Pricing: Free!

  •  Where/When: Art from the Heart Cafe, 730 Broadway. Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Why Go: Local women are invited to Art from the Heart Cafe for a little creative girl time to kick off the weekend. Participants will enjoy painting pottery, wine, hors d'ouerves and prizes. 
  • Pricing: $8 plus pottery fees.

  •  Where/When: Dunedin Community Center, 1920 Pinehurst Road. Friday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: The Dunedin Concert Band will play selections of classic music from around the world including the American folk music, Italian opera, Celtic music from Ireland, and the smooth Latin rhythms of Spain. 
  • Pricing: Free!

  •  Where/When: Honeymoon Island State Park, 1 Causeway Blvd. Saturday from 1 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Why Go: Bring your pet to the Osprey Trail and march with other pet owners for a great cause. Donations will benefit the Humane Society of Pinellas. In addition, there will be pet-friendly vendors, animals available for adoption and an awards ceremony following the walk. The first 300 walkers with $25 in donations will receive a "wag bag" filled with prizes.
  • Pricing: Free!

  •  Where/When: Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, 373 Douglas Ave. Sunday at 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: The City of Dunedin will take on the Coast Guard Station Sand Key in a charity softball match benefiting the Police Athletic League. The game begins 30 minutes after the Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins games. Children's activities, boating safety info and the Station Sand Key Coast Guard Patrol boat display are all on schedule for the afternoon.
  • Pricing: $12 in advance, $15 at the gate.
