GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview March 24-27

With a variety of entertainment venues and restaurants in the area, there's no reason to spend the weekend at home. We've put together a list of fun things to do in the Dunedin area.

It’s Thursday and the weekend’s just around the corner. If you’re still stumped on what to do, we’ve got some great ideas.

  • Where/When Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, 373 Douglas Ave. Thursday at 1:05 p.m.
  • Why Go:  Take the family out to the ball game this weekend as two major league teams go head to head on the diamond.  See the Toronto Blue Jays take on the Atlanta Braves in this Spring training match.
  • Pricing: $15 to $27.

  •  Where/When: Dunedin Brewery, 937 Douglas Ave. Friday at 9 p.m.
  • Why Go: Tampa Bay's own funk band, Swamp Logic will perform its smooth original tunes Friday at Dunedin Brewery. This isn't your ordinary jazz band, Swamp Logic delivers a Big Easy-style sound fresh from the Nawlins bayou!
  • Pricing: No cover.

  • Where/When: Weaver Park, 1249 Bayshore Blvd, Dunedin. Saturday at 4 p.m.
  • Why Go: Join the city of Dunedin as it celebrates the official opening of Weaver Park. Live music by the Dunedin Pipe Band and local reggae group Deja, fine art displays and food are on the schedule following the ribbon cutting ceremony. There will also be fun arts and crafts activities for all ages.
  • Pricing: Free.

Grillin' for the Garden

  •  Where/When: Jollimon's Grill I, 941 Huntley Ave. Sunday at 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Enjoy a day of delicious barbecue and beer specials at this fundraiser for Dunedin Community Garden. There will be a 50/50 raffle and plant giveaways for throughout the afternoon. Live music will be provided by Jeremiah Hutchison, Jerrod Simpson and Apple Butter Express.
  • Pricing: Free admission, food and drink prices vary.

  • Where/When: 5th Ave N & 2nd St N., St. Petersburg. Fri. - Sun. at 7 a.m.
  • Why Go: Downtown St. Petersburg transforms into a high speed race track this weekend for the 2011 Honda Grand Prix.  The event features three days of races including the IZOD IndyCar Series and the Firestone Indy Lights. In addition to the races, there is an air show, games for kids, autograph sessions with the drivers, live music, and much more. 
  • Pricing: Tickets range from $25 to $110 and may be purchased online.
