Poker Run, Pup Crawl Visits Dunedin's Dog-Friendly Bars

Dogtown Poker Poochapalooza set for March 7 highlights Weyerbacher Brewing Company's Last Chance IPA and guides visitors through three of downtown Dunedin's dog-friendly beer bars as part of Tampa Bay Beer Week.

It's no secret to locals that beer and dogs go hand-in-hand in Dunedin.

But beer- and dog-loving visitors from around the region will get a chance to experience it March 7 as part of a Dunedin Doggie Rescue pedestrian poker run and pup crawl during Tampa Bay Beer Week, a weeklong festival that celebrates the area as a worldwide craft beer destination.

Dogtown Poker Poochapalooza offers beer drinkers and non-beer drinkers a chance to hop around three of Dunedin's popular, dog-friendly beer nooks and win a $100 bar tab.

Players receive a poker card for each Weyerbacher Brewing Company Last Chance IPA purchased during check-in at each downtown venue — starting 6 p.m. at Rosie's Tavern, Skip's Bar & Grill and the finale ending at 9 p.m. at Dunedin House of Beer.

Non-beer drinkers can purchase up to four additional cards for a $4 donation.

A $100 bar tab will be awarded to the best hand at the end of the crawl. Weyerbacher Brewing Company beer and accessories will be awarded as prizes for second, third and worst hands, organizers say.
