Fort Stewart Honors Dunedin Soldier Zack Shannon, Fallen Brothers

Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield honored eight fallen soldiers April 18 during a ceremony at Fort Stewart's Warriors Walk.

Hundreds of trees, each honoring a fallen 3rd Infantry Division soldier, line Warriors Walk. The addition of the latest memorial trees brings the total up to 453.

The soldiers honored were:

• Chief Warrant Officer James E. Groves III, 37. Groves died March 16 in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
• Staff Sgt. Steven P. Blass, 27. Blass died March 11 in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
• Chief Warrant Officer Bryan J. Henderson, 27. Henderson died March 11 in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
• Capt. Sara M. Knutson, 27. Knutson died March 11 in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
• Staff Sgt. Marc A. Scialdo, 31. Scialdo died March 11 in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
• Spc. Zachary L. Shannon, 21. Shannon died March 11 in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
• Spc. David T. Proctor, 26. Proctor died March 13 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Md., from injuries sustained during a non-combat incident on March 3, in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.
• Staff Sgt. Rex L. Schad, 26. Schad died March 11, in Jalrez District, Afghanistan.
