A Midsummer Night's Dream

Dunedin High School embraces A Midsummer Night's Dream.
     The theatre
students of DHS will perform William Shakespeare's beloved comedy May 1, 2, and
3 at 7:00pm.  Tickets are available in the office of the school and are on sale
in the box office on show dates for $10 general seating, $5 students and senior
citizens.
Mr. Gerald Durst is proud to direct thus new take on the
classic script.  Durst has placed the play amid the Appalachian Mountains in the
mid 1800s.  This turns the Greek Mythological themes of humans of the play to
the realm of American folk lore and the English fairy world so popular in the
play to Native American spirits that inhabit the woods near Athens, North
Carolina.
The play will be underscored by the music originally written
for the play in the 1800s by Felix Mendelssohn.  Though not mountain bluegrass,
the play is underscored by a selection from the original inspired music as
arranged by Dunedin High's Band Director, Mr. Ian Black.  The music is arranged
for percussive instruments and will be played by the Dunedin High percussion
class.  The arrangement is by Mr Ian Black himself.
     The costumes for the
production will be done by none other than the amazing Mrs. Patricia Kavula.  As
a volunteer at DHS, Kavula teaches and coaches students in costume design,
construction, and stage makeup.  To see her original
designs come to life are as much a thrill for the actors as it is for the
audiences.  The DHS performers state that they really don't fully understand a
character until they see how Mrs. Kavula dresses them, lovers, fairies, and
clowns alike.
     Don't miss this amazing show.
